Christine Kay, a Pittsburgh native, was one of the most talented newspaper journalists of her generation. An investigative editor at The New York Times, she edited prize winning stories about homeless children and the human toll of terrorism. In 2001, she helped to conceive “Portraits of Grief,” a celebrated series of remembrances about each victim of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The Ira Weiss Education Fund was established in 2023 by Ira’s colleagues at Weiss Burkardt Kramer LLC to celebrate and honor his 50 years of dedicated service in the field of education and municipal law. The fund will provide grants to organizations and programs that provide or support public elementary or secondary education. The fund may also award individual grants to public school students pursuing post-secondary opportunities relating to the law or legal studies.
