Your Living Legacy

Define your living legacy.
Define your living legacy.

We can help you craft a giving strategy.

The world may seem out of control. With volatile markets, rising geopolitical tension and the reverberations of the global pandemic, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. While markets may change, some things never will: your values, your commitment to your loved ones and your community — the big things that define your legacy. The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County can help you take control of your living legacy and make an impact now on the issues that matter most — while also maximizing your tax advantages.

Take control of your living legacy.

By giving appreciated securities instead of cash, you maximize your giving to nonprofits instead of paying capital gains tax. Consider a planned gift that makes the Foundation the beneficiary of some or all of your IRA, so you can give more while reducing tax burdens on your heirs. If you’re 72 or older, you can use your IRA’s required minimum distribution (RMD) to create a designated, field of interest or scholarship fund. If RMDs aren’t required, consider giving from your DAF to support these issues.

A quick conversation can have lasting rewards.

Your donor services team can help you maximize the impact and benefits of your year-end charitable giving. Contact The Pittsburgh Foundation at 412-394-2653 or pittsburghfoundation.org/contactus.
