Don Roddy Memorial Scholarship Fund The Don Roddy Memorial Scholarship Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation was created by Robin Acton Roddy in memory of her beloved husband, Don Roddy, an educator, coach and avid sports enthusiast who was 50 years old when he died of colon cancer on April 16, 2002. Roddy taught physical education for 28 years at Waynesburg Central High School in Greene County. He was a football coach for 25 years, including four years as head coach at Waynesburg, 13 years as an assistant coach at Bethlehem Center High School in Washington County, and for shorter periods at Uniontown High School, Geibel Catholic High School and Albert Gallatin High School, all in Fayette County. He was an avid golfer and member of various area golf leagues. More than anything, Roddy is remembered by his family and friends for his loving heart, kind soul and positive attitude.

Criteria

  • Attend Waynesburg Central High School as a graduating senior.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
  • Plan to attend a 2- or 4-year college or university.
  • Be a student who continually exhibits kind behavior toward everyone—helpful, positive, inclusive, a team player and puts others above themselves.
