In 1994, the Friendship Playpark Committee was founded to advocate for and coordinate the building of the playpark. Located in Friendship, on the site of the Pittsburgh Montessori School, the playpark was constructed with the help of neighborhood volunteers during a community build event in July of 1999.
The park has been heavily utilized by both young and old, bringing wear and inspiring much-needed maintenance. Rejuvenation of the park’s surface will cost more than $30,000 over the next several years. A consistent funding stream will allow the Friendship Playpark Committee to keep this vital community asset both fresh-looking and safe.
