Frank M. Brettholle Fund

Established: 10/14/2009

Frank was formerly the Senior Vice President and CFO of H.J. Heinz Company. He died on April 17, 1994 at the age of 76.

A native of Carnegie, he received his bachelor's degree from Westminster College and a master's in business administration from The University of Chicago. Before joining Heinz, he taught business and served as treasurer and business manager of Westminster where he later devoted many years on the Board of Trustees.

Frank joined Heinz in 1946 and retired in 1983. He had a tremendous aptitude for clarity when it came to financial matters Anthony J.F. O'Reilly, Chairman and President of Heinz, told the Post-Gazette in 1994.

He "personified the characteristics that I came to appreciate in Pittsburgh in that extraordinary decade of the '70s when we won four Super Bowls as much by defense as offense…Frank was part of the (Heinz) Pittsburgh financial defense."

The fund provides scholarships through  the Frank M. and Thelma Brettholle Scholarship Fund at Westminster College.
