William from Avalon died on Dec. 1, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Wells Cain.
A graduate of Waynesburg College, he was retired from the Social Security Administration where he had been a claims representative. During World War II, he served as an officer with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines and Okinawa. He was a member of the Greenstone United Methodist Church for many years.
The fund is designated for the support of The Salvation Army, Pittsburgh Presbytery, Unity School of Christianity, Disabled American Veterans National Service Foundation and Animal Friends.
