The Pittsburgh Foundation awarded 124 grants totaling $7.9 million from its spring grant cycle to a wide range of Pittsburgh-area nonprofits.

PITTSBURGH, PA, May 27, 2026 — The Pittsburgh Foundation’s board of directors named William Generett Jr. as the organization’s seventh president and chief executive officer (CEO) following a five-month national search. A proven leader with a deep commitment to community, innovation and underserved populations, Generett has built a career setting and achieving bold visions through entrepreneurship, economic and workforce development, and civic engagement.

The Foundation's Board of Directors name Jennie Zioncheck as organizational lead as it completes search for next president and CEO.

Artist, ceramicist and educator Dr. Sharif Bey will receive an award of $29,180 from the Eben Demarest Fund, a Pittsburgh Foundation fund. Dr. Bey is a Syracuse, New York-based artist who is also a professor of art at Syracuse University.

The Pittsburgh Foundation is a founding partner and funder of Press Forward Southwestern PA. The news that the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette will cease operations after more than a century is disheartening. It underscores the fact that supporting local news matters.
