Maura joined The Pittsburgh Foundation in June 2023 as a Policy and Community Impact officer. She focuses on designing, coordinating and implementing strategies that advance the Foundation’s policy agenda and primary impact areas. She is interested in connecting historically marginalized and underserved persons with decision makers and advocating for community-driven change.

Most recently, Maura served as a public health policy specialist for the Allegheny County Health Department, where she was honored to serve county residents at the height of the pandemic as a leader in the Department’s COVID-19 response. She also has experience working collaboratively with and advocating for diverse populations from the grassroots level. She has held positions as a community organizer for anti-racism, environmental justice and child advocacy campaigns; a community-based birth doula for medically underserved populations; and a facilitator for cross-sector coalitions.

She earned a Master of Social Work in community organizing and social action and a Master of Public Health in behavioral and community health sciences from the University of Pittsburgh. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in religion and culture from Boston University. Maura has deep roots in the Pittsburgh region and now lives in Dormont with her spouse, Travis, and son, Arthur, and their four cats. In her spare time, Maura enjoys spending time with her family and performing as the lead singer and bassist for a local rock band.
