Lydia McShane is a nonprofit professional with a deep commitment to building a more equitable, inclusive and dynamic community. She joined the Foundation as Development & Donor Services Administrative Assistant in April 2020. A Pittsburgh native who returned home after living in the Washington, D.C. area for many years, Lydia has worked in a variety of nonprofit organizations, most recently serving as manager of executive affairs at Amachi Pittsburgh. Prior to that, she was the administrator of the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA), University of Pittsburgh. She also served as a teacher and administrator for the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America.

Lydia graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with a bachelor’s degree in humanities in international affairs. She and earned a master’s degree in public policy and management from the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, where she focused on nonprofit management.  

Lydia is a proud mother of two daughters and sings with the East End Song Studio, the Renaissance City Choir and the Smallest Show in Town. She has also performed with local opera companies. She also loves to garden with native perennials, read mystery novels, bake gluten-free treats and spend as much time in nature as possible.
