Small and Mighty: Pittsburgh Bereavement Doulas Inc.

Pittsburgh Bereavement Doulas

The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Small and Mighty program awarded $15,000 to Pittsburgh Bereavement Doulas in 2021. The organization offers support to families grieving a loss of a baby.

Pittsburgh Bereavement Doulas (PBD) provides no-cost physical, emotional and informational support to families who are experiencing a miscarriage, stillbirth or a fatal fetal diagnosis to full term. The organization provides bereavement care to about 50 families a year, leading to reduced use of medical and social services and improved quality of life for grieving families. The grant will be used to support grieving families through the help of personal doula care.

The Small and Mighty grants program focuses on grant seeking for small nonprofits that are meeting basic needs in our region. Since 2016, the program has awarded funding to many nonprofit organizations with budgets of less than $600,000. A list of all Small and Mighty Grantees is on the Foundation’s website.
