The First Amendment, the bedrock of American freedom, is facing unprecedented threats in a period of rising incivility and intolerance. As leaders in place-based philanthropy, higher education, the law, civic engagement and advocacy, we are concerned that this disruption could undermine our democratic institutions. Moreover, learning more about the central role that the First Amendment plays in protecting all freedoms in our democratic system in the United States benefits citizens of all geographic locations, occupations and political beliefs.

If you believe as we do that these rights are essential to what unites us as Americans, no matter our backgrounds or political ideologies, then join us in re-asserting the inestimable value of the First Amendment. Learn what you can do to strengthen its unifying power in your home community and on a broader scale to benefit our nation as whole.
