Youth Creating Change
As a young person, you have first-hand knowledge of the conditions that impact your life on a daily basis. Yet in most contexts you are not given the opportunity to speak out or take action that leads to meaningful change.
Students, this is your chance – Tell everyone what you would like to change in the community, in the world. It could be something small... or something big. Recycle bins in your school. Or more being done to prevent bullying on your bus or street. Gardens in every vacant lot. Or a regional news website where students are the reporters.
Parents&Teachers, this is an opportunity – Talk to the kids in your neighborhood. Ask if there is anything that you can do to help them explain and share their idea. Adults are also welcome to submit ideas that express the voices of youth and engage young people in creating change.
The goal of this competition is to share the ideas of youth with the community. No idea is too small or too big. Let's start the conversation and see what changes we can make together.
Voting will determine the top three ideas from a group of Finalists selected by a panel of community members.
The top three ideas will receive up to $15,000 each to help make change possible in Pittsburgh.
