Continuing Learning Event: legal, ethical gifting of business interests to charity

The fall Continuing Learning Event will feature Cristin C. Keane, J.D., LL.M., shareholder at Carlton Fields in Tampa, Florida. She has extensive and varied experience with closely-held businesses, high net-worth individuals and nonprofit organizations. Her lecture, entitled “Why Family Businesses Should Consider Their Charitable Options and the Income Tax Advantages of ‘Doing Good,’” will cover the ethical issues relating to gifting of business interests by weighing Give and Sell, and Give and Hold strategies. She will also discuss how to maximize annual charitable giving deductions and the tax benefits associated, as well as how a possible phase-out of itemized deductions will affect charitable deductions.
