James G. Fulton and J. Steele Gow Political Internship Fund The James G. Fulton Fellows Program was established in 1972 as a living memorial to the late Western Pennsylvania Congressman who, over a 27-year period, trained more than 100 students in his office and taught them first-hand about the challenges and rewards of public life.  The J. Steele Gow Political Fellows Program was established in 1965 in memory of the late J. Steele Gow.  Mr. Gow was the executive director of the Maurice and Laura Falk Foundation from its beginning in 1929 until its termination in 1965.  The Foundation was a pioneer in support of economic research, political science education, aided in the development and publication of more than 75 books in these fields, and developed political internships at 25 colleges and universities.  Awards to undergraduate college men and women, preferably residents of Western PA who have taken courses in politics in Western PA institutions and who wish to serve political internships.

Criteria

• Attend the University of Pittsburgh or Carnegie Mellon University as an undergraduate student.
• Reside in Allegheny County, Armstrong County, Beaver County, Butler County, Washington County, or Westmoreland County in Pennsylvania.
• Have completed previous coursework in American Politics.
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
• Plan to attend an internship in a Western Pennsylvania Congressional office; executive or administrative office of the federal government; in the legislative bodies and executive and administrative offices of local governments; or in the national, state and local offices of the political parties.  
• Preference will be given to students from Allegheny County, PA.
