During a 2006 gymnastics lesson, 14-year-old Claire Senita suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury that paralyzed her. Now 24-years-old, Claire has graduated college and completed rigorous physical rehab at the Journey Forward gym in Boston. Through her Pittsburgh Foundation fund, she’s now raising money to open a Journey Forward facility in western Pennsylvania. In this interview, Claire and her mother Emily talk about the injury and Claire’s work to regain her self-confidence, health and mobility.
