With a background in accounting, analysis, modeling and forecasting, Kiel brings attention to detail and in-depth understanding of best practices in all aspects of accounting and investment accounting in particular. At The Pittsburgh Foundation, Kiel is responsible for reconciling and allocating investment activity for the Foundation’s Third Party Investment Manager Program. He also processes investment-related cash flows and coordinates and reviews gifts of stock from donors. Before the Foundation, he worked for Bank of New York Mellon Financial Corporation, where he began as an accounting analyst completing daily and monthly reconciliations and collaborating with custodian banks. Later, as senior accounting analyst there, he assisted the management team with conversions, account modifications and asset transfers. He also served as a peer trainer to new hires. In 2014 he was promoted to team leader and oversaw the work of multiple analysts, taking on increasingly complex and higher risk projects. While at BNY Mellon, he won the Aspire Award for outstanding performance.

Kiel earned his bachelor’s in finance from Robert Morris University, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. While still a student at Robert Morris, Kiel interned with the high-end optics company II-VI Inc., where he analyzed and compiled stock option overhang data for the company and its competitors, and assisted with year-end budget preparation. Kiel played college football as a wide receiver. Pittsburgh born and raised, he lives in Freeport with his wife, Lindsay. Their idea of a great weekend is getting lost on the backroads on their Harley.
