The Pittsburgh Foundation

Zella I. and Junius F. Allen Fund

Established: 11/23/1988

Junius F. Allen was retired and living in Sarasota, Florida, when he contacted The Pittsburgh Foundation to express interest in charitable giving.

As an employee of H.J. Heinz II for many years, Junius had been influenced by Mr. Heinz's strong commitment to planned and purposeful giving. With this in mind, he and his wife established a fund to support urban minority issues as well as research, capital equipment, planning and program development, scholarships, internship awards and community building.

"Fortunately, The Pittsburgh Foundation has proven its ability to provide such guidance and has been creative in seeking solutions of new social problems as they arise," said Junius.
