Barbara and Marcus Aaron Fund

Marcus Aaron lived in San Francisco with his wife Barbara Goldman, a native of California. As a fourth generation Pittsburgher, Marcus and his wife support numerous organizations and institutes in Pittsburgh.

Marcus was the son of Marcus and Maxine Aaron of Squirrel Hill, a family well known for having three generations that served the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education. Marcus's grandfather, Marcus Aaron, his mother Maxine Goldmark and his sister Elinor G.A. were all past presidents.

The fund has supported: Beginning with Books, the Carnegie Library and Museums of Pittsburgh, Children's Institute of Pittsburgh, City Theatre Company, East End Cooperative Ministry, Jewish Community Center of Pittsburgh, Negro Education Emergency Drive (NEED) and numerous Pittsburgh arts organizations.

Barbara died peacefully at home in San Francisco, Calif., on September 7, 2013, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Marcus passed away May 28, 2015, at his home in the San Francisco Bay Area.
