The Pittsburgh Foundation

Mortgage Escrow Interest Fund

Established: 7/2/1980

This fund is part of an agreement settling class actions in Federal and Common Court that were brought against Dollar Savings Bank by mortgagers who claimed that the bank should pay them interest on their mortgage escrow deposits. By the time the litigation ended, many of them had moved away and couldn't be traced. This fund was established as a result with the money that would have been paid to them.

The fund supports charitable organizations that will, through counseling, education and other appropriate means, assist residents of Allegheny, Westmoreland, Butler and Washington counties to acquire, maintain and improve their residences and to better living conditions in their neighborhoods.
