Robert S. Kamin Fund

Established: 12/29/2010

Robert Kamin appreciated many of the same pastimes and pursuits in which his parents enjoyed during their lifetimes.

The family real estate business was one of them. He and his brother Daniel followed their father's footsteps into Kamin Realty where Robert continues to work today, overseeing the apartment side of the business.

After both parents passed away in 2006, the Kamin brothers chose to honor their memory by establishing the Harry Wallace and Dorothy Kamin Fund in support of many areas that their mother, in particular, had enjoyed during her lifetime: the arts, historic preservation and the environment.

Charitable giving so appealed to him that Robert elected to establish his own donor-fund, dedicated to many of the same organizations his parents had supported. It made sense since Robert and his wife Vicky are artists as well.

Grants from the fund will be used to support education, preservation of historical sites and five disciplines of the arts: literature, music, visual arts, dance, drama, museums, natural history, healthy, arboretum/conservatories and sciences.

"When we're no longer around, the children will take over the advisor position, which is a nice way to provide in perpetuity direction from the family," says Robert. "The fund has legs into the future."
